Nutrition for Healthy Ageing with Chris Oliver

Today's podcast explores the many facets of healthy ageing. The medical term for age-related decline in health is  “Sarcopoenia”. It is characterised by a progressive and generalised loss of skeletal muscle mass and strength which can result in adverse outcomes such as physical disability, poor quality of life and death. Chris Oliver is an expert in the area of nutrition, body composition and healthy aging and delivers an engaging discussion on the many modifiable factors of optimal ageing. 


Chris Oliver has a Bachelor of Agricultural Science (La Trobe University), a Postgraduate Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics (University of Sydney) and a Masters of Public Health (University of Sydney). His particular areas of interest are body composition (especially in the area of muscle loss and muscle function), acid-base balance, ageing, and issues about research evidence such as meta-analyses.  For over 30 years he has worked in a number of different roles in private practice, in academia and in business.  Currently he is the Research Director for Blackmores Institute and is based at Southern Cross University, where he helps direct the Blackmores Institute clinical trials and research program.
