Treating Psoriasis with Natural Medicine

Psoriasis can be a devastating disease not just because of the outward expression of the red rash and silvery scales, but also because of the co-morbidities and frequently unsatisfactory results gained by medical management alone. Patients need natural practitioners with expertise in treating complex skin conditions and Ananda Mahony is a wealth of both knowledge and clinical expertise.

In this podcast, Andrew and Ananda discuss the management of psoriasis using natural medicine. Ananda also shares her history, and her learning curve to find out what natural medicines have worked and which haven’t, and provides practitioners with some simple strategies to safely work alongside medical therapy to successfully manage stubborn skin conditions.

Ananda Mahony is a qualified naturopath with 20 years in the profession, including over 12 years of clinical practice. For much of that period her focus has been on the natural management of skin conditions and more recently, integrated pain management for acute and chronic pain.

Her broad range of skills are a legacy from her diverse career. She has worked in the areas of research and development and raw material supply as a previous director of a large multidisciplinary centre, as well as founding a successful online organic skin care store, she is a Senior Lecturer in Nutrition at Endeavour College of Natural Health as well as a private clinician in a successful integrative practice; Athletica Physical Health in Brisbane.

Ananda's passion for education and continued learning has led her to undertake post-graduate studies in Human Nutrition at Deakin University and more recently she has moved to a Masters in the Science of Pain Management at Sydney University, aligning more closely with her special interest in clinical practice. Ananda is a member of The Australian Pain Society and International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP).
